BAPS is once again awarding a prize for the best master's thesis in psychological sciences, recognizing original, scientifically rigorous work across any subfield (clinical, social, cognitive, developmental, industrial, modelling, and more). The winner receives €500.

Who can apply: Students who completed a master's thesis in psychological sciences at a Belgian university during the 2025-2026 academic year, graded at least 16/20, are eligible — regardless of faculty or program, as long as the thesis contributes to psychological science. Theses in French, Dutch, or English qualify. Applicants must be BAPS members for 2026 (or have applied before the deadline). Co-authored theses can also apply, under specific conditions for joint or individual submission. Internship reports are not accepted.

How to apply: Submit a single PDF containing an electronic copy of the thesis, an English-language summary (max. 1,000 words, plus up to 3 tables/figures and 40 references), and a signed statement (max. 200 words) detailing the candidate's contribution and the promotor's role. Files should be named "NAME SURNAME_best master thesis 2027" and sent to Lien.Goossens@UGent.be.

Deadline: 15 November 2026.

Evaluation: After an eligibility check, a blinded two-step process follows: four BAPS executive committee members (from outside the candidate's university) first rank submissions based on the summaries, shortlisting the top 2-3 theses. These are then evaluated in full by a jury drawn from the National Committee for Psychology at RASAB.
