BAPS JB Workshop: Should we be wary of Open Science?

8 April 2024 | 14.00u - 15.30u

In 2024, the BAPS Junior Board will be organizing a series of free, online workshops for BAPS members!

Our third online workshop, given by Dr. Adrien Fillon, will focus on Open Science and will take place on April 8th, 2024, at 14h.

More about the workshop: In September 2023, Dr. Fillon participated in the 'Open Science Fair conference' in Madrid, from which he emerged quite surprised … and disappointed. This experience prompted him to write an article titled 'Should We Be Wary of Open Science,' in which he discusses issues associated with Open Science and offers recommendations to avoid pitfalls that could be detrimental to our work. His workshop presentation will consist of two parts: What are the problems associated with Open Science? And what could be potential ways to address these problems?

More about the speaker: Dr. Adrien Fillon is a Postdoctoral Researcher at SInnoPSis, a European research center focused on the study and policies of science and innovation. Whereas he has a background in Social Psychology, the research center itself is an economics laboratory that models the economic flows of research and tests new funding models through experimental methods. Dr. Fillon specializes in innovation related to the 'reproducibility crisis’, with a focus on meta-analyses, and serves as an editor at PCI-RR, a community of researchers recommending studies in the Registered Report format.
