Recent BAPS initiatives

  • Monthly newsletter introduced, allowing BAPS to communicate more easily with its members and share information about events and job offers.
  • BAPS ethical committee workgroup brought together representatives from each university to discuss procedures for ethical approval. This resulted in, amongst other things, a consensus statement on which types of research should be submitted to medical ethical committees.
  • BAPS supported the expert group Psychology & Corona, that published regular reports with expert advice during the covid-19 pandemic. This expert group later evolved into "Psychology & Society".
  • BAPS expert list created, allowing full BAPS members to be listed as experts that can be contacted by media.
  • BAPS junior board created, allowing junior researchers to organize activities and have a bigger impact in the governance of BAPS. The BAPS junior board has organized several workshops and organizes a specific track of sessions during the BAPS annual meeting. Participation in the BAPS junior board has also been recognized as an activity for doctoral schools.
  • BAPS organized symposia at ICPS.
  • BAPS representatives at BFP, Compsy, EFPA represent the interests of Belgian researchers in psychology.
  • In coordination with BFP, BAPS organized a Eurpsy National Awarding Committee in Belgium (https://www.efpa.eu/europsy).
