PhD Thesis Award 2021

Winner: Dries Bostyn (UGent)!​​

Shortlist PhD award 2021 (in alphabetical order):

  • Bart Aben, "Temporal and task-specific profiles of effort investment"

  • Dries Bostyn, "Trolleys in the dark: enlightening moral cognition through sacrificial dilemmas"

We received 20 applications (6 KU Leuven, 5 UGent, 3 UC Louvain, 3 ULiège, 1 ULB, 1 UMons, 1 Joint KU Leuven/UGent) from a wide range of subdisciplines in psychology (e.g., social, clinical, cognitive, and health psychology, neuroscience, psycholinguistics). Five members of the EC who have a background in diverse areas of psychology read the summary and impact statement of all applications except those from their own universities and those for which there was a COI (e.g., joint publications). Based on their evaluations, the EC selected two applications that will now be evaluated by jury composed of BAPS past-presidents and a number of experts. The winner will be announced at our annual meeting on Friday 28th of May 2021.

Master Thesis Award 2021

 

Winner: Sandra Invernizzi (UMons)!

Shortlist Best Master Thesis Award 2021 (in alphabetical order):

  • Maya Braun, "Do children outperform adults in implicit language acquisition? Evidence from a statistical learning paradigm."

  • Sandra Invernizzi; "Taxonomic and Thematic priming effect on Jacoby & Whitehouse illusion. Effect of healthy ageing and early stage of Alzheimer’s disease"

  • Britt Mostmans, "Perceptueel sequentieleren bij patiënten met de ziekte van Parkinson"

 

We received 16 applications (7 UGent, 3 UC Louvain, 2 VUB, 2 ULiège, 1 ULB, 1 UMons) from a wide range of subdisciplines in psychology (e.g., social, developmental, organizational, clinical, cognitive, and health psychology, neuroscience, psycholinguistics). Four members of the EC who have a background in diverse areas of psychology read the summary of all applications except those from their own universities. Based on their evaluations, the EC shortlisted three applications that will now be evaluated by an external jury. The winner will be announced at our annual meeting on Friday 28th of May 2021.
